Mikes Bikes is a family foundation established in honor and memory of my son, Michael Neal Duncklee, who was murdered on May 21, 2014, in Tucson, AZ.
Michael was 28 years old. He was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He had a heart of gold and was a champion for the less fortunate in our community. He would give someone in need the shirt off of his back or his last dollar if they were in need, which he often did. He would say "I can always make more money and buy more clothes, they can't. We need to take care of our people".
When Mike was killed his siblings; Nick, Kelly, and Hailey had no support systems in place in our community to help them not only grieve the loss of their brother but also to help them navigate the complicated grief that follows traumatic violent loss.
It took us a while to catch our breath and learn to live without Michael in our daily lives, 10 years actually, but here we are seeing our conversations, tears, and vision become a reality.
Mikes Bikes is a place for siblings who are coping with traumatic violent loss to come together in a safe and healthy space to grieve and connect with others who "get it".
We sponsor monthly outdoor bicycle ride events, at no cost to participants. Don't have a bike? Don't worry we have plenty of loaners and helmets too. Keep an eye on our calendar of events and know you are welcome to join us at our events anytime!
We look forward to having you Ride, Walk, or Roll with us...remember, At Mikes Bikes nobody rides or grieves alone!
